Many laminate & wood flooring underlays offer good insulation properties, however, if there is underfloor heating present in the subfloor then insulation is the last property that you would want from your chosen underlay.

In fact, it’s best to have a poor insulator with a low tog rating so that the heat will transfer through the underlay quickly. It’s very important to let the heat radiate through the underlay both quickly and evenly. This is so that there is minimum delay when the heating is turned up and also so prevents hot spots.

ThermFast does this through special perforations in the underlay that allow the heat to flow rapidly through the underlay. However, the perforations are not big enough to compromise the underlay’s other fine properties. These include excellent load-bearing capacity, footfall & impact sound reduction and built-in vapour barrier damp protection.

The protection from subfloor damp is provided by a twin layer vapour foil together with an overlapping taped layer which has a securely taped seam so that no moisture can get through on the joins in the underlay.
