Sika Acoubond 3mm Underlay

The Sika Silent Layer Mat 03 is a 3mm polyethylene sound reducing flooring underlay. It is particularly effective at reducing footfall and is popular for installations in apartments, hotels, office blocks etc where there is a strong need to deaden footsteps across hardwood floors. It provides up to an impressive 18dB of sound reduction and gives excellent in room acoustics too.

The mat is used in conjunction with Sika 52 Woodfloor, more commonly known as Sika T52 adhesive. This 600ml adhesive sausage is applied via a bulk/foil gun into the pre-cut slots in the Sika Layer-03 foam underlay.
This unique hybrid approach results in a wood floor that is bonded securely to the sub floor but also sits on a sound insulating underlay. The Sika adhesive glues with an elastic bond giving great strength whilst enabling it to expand and contract as necessary.

The Sika underlay mat itself comes in either a 3mm or 5mm thickness.

The consumption of T52 glue with the 3mm underlay is around 1.25m2 per sausage and 1m2 for the 5mm underlay. The 3mm underlay roll is supplied as a 25m2 roll but the Sika Acoubond System is sold per square metre by Oakwoods off the roll. Simply buy as many square meters as you require and reduce cost & wastage.
