This T Bar door threshold is perfect for joining your new wood flooring with a floor of equal height. This could be wood flooring running through more than one room or joining to a different floor such as tile or stone. It’s perfect for providing a level transition between rooms as well as allowing for an expansion gap.
Door Thresholds, also known as Door Bars not only cover the expansion gap but also bridge to whichever surface you may have in an adjoining room; be it lower or higher than your wood flooring. In this case, the T Bar is designed to connect surfaces that are the same height.
This solid oak T Bar threshold is available in 900mm and 2700mm lengths and is perfect as a joining strip for bridging the gap between surfaces that are the same height. For example, you may be fitting the same wood floor in two separate rooms and require an expansion break in the doorway.
Known as a T bar or T section because when looking at its end profile / cross-sectional view, it looks exactly like a capital ‘T’. It is rebated equally each side so that the flooring sits underneath the T bar leaving room for it to expand and contract as it needs to.
Floor Height Differences
Solid oak T bars are designed to be fitted where the floors are at equal height, but if the floors are at a slightly different height then it is possible to angle the T bar very slightly to allow for a drop of approx 2mm. For larger differences, a Wood to Carpet threshold should be used.
The T bar is very easy to fit with any flooring. Simply bond it to the concrete or timber subfloor with any builder adhesive such as PinkGrip or GripFill etc.
The T bar is available in 900mm and 2700mm lengths which is particularly useful for wide openings & archways as well as for cutting down for individual doorways. Choose the unfinished solid oak T Bar door bar if you wish to apply your own colour stain, oil, or lacquer finish.
Oakwoods Tip:
Never be tempted to use a hardwood T bar moulding with soft floor coverings such as carpet. Hard floor coverings such as wood, stone, tile, laminate etc are fine, but carpets will compress underfoot and will put undue stress on the T Bar which over time may cause it to break.

Please note: For smoked products such as Carpenters Smokey Oak, we cannot provide Smoked trims. Instead, we will supply unfinished and a stain.
Some V4 Wood Flooring thresholds have changed to 1m and 2m instead of 900mm and 2700mm. Please contact us to confirm.
