Due to the extra wide depth most solid and engineered wood flooring planks can be used to form the stair tread with just a single flooring plank and a single stair nose. Simply glue the stair nose plank with an elastic adhesive such as Sikabond T54 or T52. Depending on the type of Nosing, some trade fitters will use a router to create a groove to match the T&G profile of the flooring or alternatively it can simply be glued alongside the flooring plank.
There are also some other Stair Nosings that are made from the angled cover strip that simply caps the tread and riser or the traditional universal stair nose that sits on top of the stair tread. Both of these designs are cheap to make and fit any floor, but the raised floor is uncomfortable underfoot and not aesthetically pleasing.
By far the best stair noses are those that are flush fit as they blend naturally with the wood floor planks and a seamless flush fit join that doesn’t detract from the wood floor.
