The End Section is designed to cover the expansion gap where a wooden floor meets external doors, wardrobes, fireplace hearths, mat wells or an entire room. This moulding is also sometimes referred to in the flooring trade as a little ‘R’ or ‘R Ramp’ because its cross-section drawing looks like a lowercase letter ‘r’.
This profile can also be used as a perimeter moulding to cover the expansion gap right around the edge of your wooden floor. Typically this approach would be used if you have existing skirting board that you don’t want to remove and re-fit. The end section provides a much more subtle lower profile than either a scotia or quadrant moulding.
Square Edges are often colour matched to your flooring, but a contrasting colour can work well too. It is easily trimmed to size and is ideal for covering expansion gaps at fireplaces, external doorways and for coir mats.
Oakwoods Tip: Be sure to fit the end section the right way round on coir mat wells. The rebated side must sit over the oak wood flooring so that it is supported and not over the coir mat which will compress under footfall and the end bar will break at the start of the rebate.
We can source door thresholds and mouldings in alternative wood species and sizes if required, please contact us for a quote.
